Arrival

On arriv al you are met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2

Yerevan City Tour (B/-/D)

Today we have the city tour of Yerevan. You will see the major sights of the capital, visiting the Republic Square, the Cascade with the sculpture of world-famous sculptor Fernadno Botero. The excursion includes visits to museums such as Matenadaran – one of the largest depositories of ancient manuscripts in the world amnd Genocide memorial.

Then we visit Yerevan Wine and Campaign factory where we can taste 8 different sorts of wine. Afterwards we can see a spa centre where they have a wine spa. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 3

Ararat valley Vineyards – Khor Virap monsatery – Echmiadzin (B/-/D)

The moring will start with the visit to Ararat Valley. Located at the foot of biblical Mt Ararat this land plays major role in the agriculture of Armenia. The cultivation of various sorts of grapes here goes back to the times of Noah. Here we will also visit Khor Virap monastery which embodies the adoption of Christianity in Armenia in 301 AD and allows wonderful views of Mt Ararat.

In the afternoon we will visit Echmiadzin, which is the religious center of all Armenians. Echmiadzin Cathedral was the first church to be built in Armenia. Legend tells that it was here that Jesus Christ descended from Heaven to show where he wanted a church to be built. *On Sundays a wonderful church choir performs Divine Lithurgyhere. After this we will visit the ruins of the marvelous medieval cathedral Zvartnots. The area is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.

*If it is a week-end you will also have a chance to explore the outdoor handicraft market Vernisage where you can find the most attractive hand-made souvenirs, carpets, handicrafts made from local volcanic glass obsidian, Armenian cross-stones (khachkars) made of tuff stone, some interesting ceramic items and other local souvenirs. Day 4

Winery in Oshakan – Amberd Fortress – Dzoraget (B/-/D)

The morning will start with the visit to Amberd Fortress. The timeless tranquility of the countryside comes as a relief when we cross a high mountain pass and enter a hidden wilderness of mountain pastures carpeted with multicolor flowers and broad valleys lined by snowy peaks. Here at the altitude of 2300m, on a high cliff surrounded with deep gorges of rivers lies medieval Amberd fortress. Then we will visit wine factory in Oshakan village, North-West of Yerevan. Here you will get acquainted with the process of wine and cognac production. Here we will be given 11 sorts of wine.

After having lunch with a family at a private house we will continue to explore undiscovered corners of Armenia., we will have another degustation in “Armenia Wine”, here we can taste 6 sorts of wine. Two hours’ drive will bring us to Lori province, one of the Northern provinces of Armenia, a country of forest-covered mountains, dizzy gorges and bubbling rivers. Overnight in Dzoraget.

Day 5

Haghbat monastery (UNESCO) – Ijevan winery – Dilijan resort – Lake Sevan (B/-/D)

Driving via the deep gorge of the Debet river we reach Haghbat monastery – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This monastery was one of the largest religious, educational and cultural centers of medieval Armenia. The fantastic scenery and the breathtaking position make the visit a truly unforgettable experience. We will then continue to Ijevan where we will visit a winery. This area is notable for white wine production. we taste 5 different sorts of wine.

We continue our journey to the beautiful rolling valley framed by the mountains of the Lesser Caucasus. In the resort town of Dilijan you will have a pleasant walk through a museum street, with the buildings preserved from 19-century with the ceramics workshop and woodcarvers’ studio. Our last stop of the day will be Lake Sevan. Being one of the biggest high-altitude lakes in the world (1900m) it is often referred to as the “Pearl of Armenia”. Overnight at Lake Sevan.

Day 6

Selim caravanserai – Noravank monastery – Areni village – Taperakan winery - Yerevan (B/-/D)

Today our trip is full of interesting sites, picturesque sceneries and varied landscapes. We will drive via Selim pass, following the ancient trade route – part of Silk Road. Here we stop at Selim caravanserai, a very well preserved monument of the 14th century, serving a shelter for merchants. Continuing our way further we will reach one of the Southern provinces of Armenia, Vayots Dzor province. This is the most popular area of Armenia producing red wines from native sorts of grapes. Here we will visit Noravank monasterty, after which back to Yerevan. On the way we will visit Areni and Taperakan wineries. Return to Yerevan.

Day 7

Garni temple – Geghard monastery

Brandy Distillery in Yerevan (B/-/D)

In the morning we will leave Yerevan towards Garni village. Here we will visit Garni temple of 1st century A.D. – a unique example from pagan times. Apart from the ruins of the royal complex, you will also see a bathhouse with an interesting mosaic. We may have an enjoyable walk down to the Garni gorge where we will admire volcanic basalt formations called “the symphony of stones”. Not far from Garni we will visit Geghard monastery – a UNESCO site. Some buildings of this construction were cut carved out of solid rock. The cave enclosures of this cultural and architectural wonder are notable for amazing acoustics. The secret of the chamber has never been found.

We will visit the Brandy and Wine factory in Yerevan. It is located on the place where once the Fortress of Yerevan stood. Today you can descend to the cellars deep under the ground, where you will be given explanation accompanied by the tasting of various sorts of wine and brandy. Overnight in Yerevan.
